Role: Support Worker (Adult Learning Difficulties – residential)

Location: Flexible, to work across the Coventry and the Midlands

Pay: £13 to £15 an hour (negotiable)

Hours: Flexible, can vary depending on the role (Early, full-days, waking-nights, sleeps)

The duties are varied, and no two days will be the same.

You will need to support a range of needs, including but not limited to:

  • Learning disabilities
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • ADHD
  • Personality Disorder
  • Self-harm
  • Challenging & aggressive behaviour
  • Physical disabilities

Your responsibilities:

  • Support people with learning disabilities to the highest standard and in line with their support plan, cultural needs and wishes.
  • Support and encourage the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests, according to the individual’s choice and care plan.
  • Support people with their health needs as required, e.g. taking medication and attending doctor’s appointments.
  • Keep accurate and up to date records to inform decision making on the future care arrangements of the individual.
  • Providing physical and emotional support for an individual and their families.
  • Ensuring that safety and well-being is always protected.
  • Encouraging and promoting healthy habits (as appropriate) to enjoy a range of food and food choices.
  • Complying to rules and regulations of the facilities, as instructed, and meeting setting standards.

You are independent and able to work alone, or as part of a team, using your own initiative
You are committed to quality and doing the best you can.
You have empathy and can support people in sensitive or challenging situations

The criteria for our support workers are:

  • Child and Adult DBS – on the update service (desirable)
  • Previous UK Experience in a similar role (at least 12 months)
  • UK references covering the last 3 years minimum
  • NVQ Level 3 in health and social care or equivalent (desirable)
