We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children Support Worker to join our client’s team in Hedge End, Hampshire. This rewarding role involves supporting children with learning disabilities in a residential setting. The role of the Children Support Worker is to provide care and support to children with ASD, Learning Difficulties and associated conditions in a purpose-build residential setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, warm, caring, and stable environment for young people with learning disabilities, including those within the ASD and children with a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome.
  • Create a respectful culture and ethos within the home, prioritising the needs of the children and encouraging their development and full potential.
  • Manage challenging behaviour and support individualised care plans for each child.
  • Maintain a safe and caring environment, ensuring the well-being and security of the children.
  • Stay updated with documentation, records, and relevant legislation and policies.
  • Promote education and daily living skills, fostering the personal development of the children.
  • Undertake key-worker responsibilities, providing personalised support and guidance to assigned children.

This is a permanent, full time role with 40 hours per week. Shifts are 8 hours in the day, with 5 days worked per week,

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in care/support work is preferred.
  • Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare or above is preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience working with young people/children and/or those with learning disabilities, preferably 6 months to a year of experience.
  • If a Level 3 qualification is not held, willingness to complete it within 2 years of service.
  • Availability to work weekends and willingness to work in shift rotations.

We offer a competitive salary starting from £10.75 per hour to £11.50 per hour, with a welcome bonus, opportunities for qualifications and professional development, and an enhanced annual leave entitlement.
