Prospero are working with a care provider that provides residential care and support to children between the ages of 11 and 18 with SEMH needs. We are looking for a Children’s Home Registered Manager to join our team and lead a home that is going through a transitional period. The house is in a beautiful area with close links to nature, Reading, and London. We believe in providing a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for the children in our care, where they can grow and thrive.

Job Description:

As a Children’s Home Registered Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the new home, ensuring that it is run efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the home, overseeing the care and support of the children in our care, and ensuring that all staff are properly trained and supported.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the new children’s home, ensuring that it is run efficiently and effectively.
  • Oversee the care and support of the children in our care, ensuring that their needs are met and that they are safe and well-cared for.
  • Recruit, train, and support staff to ensure that they are properly equipped to provide high-quality care to the children in our care.
  • Ensure that all staff adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication with children, staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure the smooth running of the home.
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring that the home is financially sustainable.
  • Work closely with external agencies to ensure that the needs of the children in our care are properly met.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification, or willing to undertake the qualification
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Manager in a children’s residential care setting, or over 2 years of experience as an excellent Deputy Manager.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the regulatory and legislative requirements of the children’s residential care sector.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Passionate about providing high-quality care to children and young people with SEMH needs.
