Prospero Health and Social Care is seeking a qualified and dedicated Children’s Home Registered Manager for a new home in Bournemouth in Dorset. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to lead and inspire a team, ensuring that the children in our care receive the very best support, guidance, and a place they can truly call home. This is a 3-bedded home that is focused on accessing and healing trauma in children between the ages of 7 and 16.

Your role will be the daily oversight and operations of a new children’s home, managing the referral process for taking in new young people, overseeing recruitment and working to establish an excellent home for children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the children’s home and ensure compliance with OFSTED regulations, national standards, and relevant legislation.

  • Recruit, train, and manage staff members, including care workers, support staff, and administrative personnel. Provide leadership, supervision, and support to the staff team.
  • Develop and implement individual care plans for each child, collaborating with social workers and other relevant professionals.
  • Regularly review and update care plans to meet changing needs.
  • Implement and maintain effective safeguarding procedures to protect the welfare of the children. Report and respond to any incidents or concerns related to child protection.
  • Monitor and promote the physical and mental health of children in care.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant residential care environment.
  • At least 2 years supervising and managing staff, ideally at the Deputy Manager or the Registered Manager level.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce, Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England).
  • A “Good” or “Outstanding” grade in recent inspections.
