Role Overview

As Team Manager in the Safeguarding and Care Planning Team, you will lead, supervise, and coach social workers to deliver high-quality interventions for children and families. This role requires experience with complex casework, contested care proceedings, and a strong commitment to raising practice standards within a supportive, relationship-based framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and supervise complex casework, guiding social workers through challenging situations.
  • Lead on contested care proceedings, ensuring robust and well-evidenced cases.
  • Support and coach team members, fostering a high standard of practice and professional development.
  • Implement reflective supervision and mentoring practices to strengthen the team’s capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to support comprehensive and effective care planning.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
  • Registration with Social Work England (or eligibility).
  • Significant post-qualification experience in children’s social work within statutory or independent settings.
  • Proven experience in supervising complex cases and contested care proceedings.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in practice teaching and mentoring.
