Prospero Health and Social Care are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Childrens Support Worker to join our team in providing care and support to children with a range of emotional, behavioural, or physical needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to supporting childrens well-being and development, while fostering a safe and nurturing environment. As a Childrens Support Worker, you will work closely with children and their families to promote independence, social inclusion, and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
– Provide one-on-one or group support to children with varying needs, including emotional, behavioural, and physical challenges.
– Assist with daily routines, including personal care, meal preparation, and school activities, as required.
– Support the childs emotional development by offering guidance, encouragement, and a stable, trusting relationship.
– Encourage and engage children in recreational, educational, and social activities that promote their development and well-being.
– Work collaboratively with other professionals, including social workers, teachers, and healthcare providers, to develop and implement individual care plans.
– Monitor and record the childs progress, behaviour, and development, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
– Assist children in developing life skills, such as communication, problem-solving, and self-care.
– Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful environment at all times.
– Actively listen to childrens concerns and needs, advocating on their behalf where necessary.
– Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns to senior staff in line with child protection protocols.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
· A minimum of 1 years UK experience working with children and young people
· Be able to provide professional references for anywhere you have worked within the last 3 years
· Must have an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS registered on the update service or be willing to process a new one with Prospero.
· Strong understanding of child development and the challenges children may face.
· Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trust and rapport with children.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
· A commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity.
· Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
