We are looking for a great Deputy Manager for a small children’s home in the Southampton area.

Duties will include assisting with the development and implementation of policies and procedures, providing supervision and support to staff, and maintaining high standards of care. You will also have the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities as needed, including leading shifts and managing the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.

As this is a 1-bedded home with capacity to increase, the salary will increase as your responsibilities grow. This is a perfect opportunity for a Team Leader who is looking for progression, or a Deputy Manager looking for a change.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Registered Manager with the overall management and operation of the children’s home
  • Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of care for the children in our care
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local authorities and other stakeholders, including parents and guardians, to ensure the best outcomes for the children
  • Ensure that the home is compliant with all relevant regulations and legislation, including the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and the National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes
  • Assist with the day-to-day operation of the home, including the management of budgets and resources
  • Conduct assessments of the children’s needs and develop individualized care plans to meet those needs
  • Provide supervision and support to the team, fostering a positive and inclusive culture
  • Lead shifts and manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant professional qualification, such as the Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Services or an equivalent qualification
  • Experience working in residential care for children and young people, with a strong understanding of relevant regulations and legislation
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
