Prospero Health and Social Care are supporting a nationwide residential childcare provider who are looking for a Deputy Manager for a 5-bedded children’s home that specialise in supporting children with SEMH needs and Learning Difficulties.
About the Role:
As a Deputy Manager/Trainee Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties (EBD) and learning difficulties. You’ll lead a dedicated team of Support Workers, making each day a unique and impactful experience. In the first 12 months, you’ll learn and develop essential skills within our existing home, with opportunities to progress towards a Registered Manager position as we continue to grow.
Responsibilities:
- Safeguarding the well-being of our young people.
- Leading and mentoring a team of support workers, including staff reviews, supervision, and professional development.
- Collaborating with the management team to maintain essential paperwork, such as Care Plans, Behaviour Support Plans, and Risk Assessments.
- Engaging in innovative recreational events within the home and the wider community.
- Managing the home in the absence of the Registered Manager and participating in an on-call roster during the week.
About Our Home:
Our 5-bedded home is specifically designed to focus on supporting children with Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH) needs and learning difficulties. Nestled in a detached setting, it offers a spacious environment with a large garden for activities and ample living space for the children.
Requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent, with a willingness to work towards NVQ Level 5 in Residential Childcare.
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with children/young people in a Residential Childcare setting.
- At least one year of supervisory experience, ideally as a senior/deputy.
- Genuine passion for care and motivation to support others’ progress.
- Strong team player.
- Knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations and Ofsted Requirements.
- Resilience to persevere during challenging times and seek support when needed.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Computer literacy and attention to detail.
- A valid driving license.
