Job Title: Deputy Manager Children’s Residential Care

Location: Salisbury

Salary: Up to £36,000 plus sleeps

Prospero Health and Social Care are supporting a highly reputable and established residential childcare provider who are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager to join their team at a Children’s Home in Salisbury in Wiltshire. The home provides high-quality care for children with SEMH needs with a focus on therapeutic care for children affected by trauma. This role is easily commutable from towns such as Fordingbridge, Wilton, Romsey, Andover, and the surrounding towns and villages.

The Role:

As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to oversee the daily operations of the home and ensure that we provide excellent care to children an young people. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, and deputising in their absence
  • Managing and supervising a team of support staff, ensuring that they are trained, motivated, and delivering high-quality care
  • Ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed, and that the home meets and exceeds OFSTED standards
  • Supporting residents with their daily routines and activities, and promoting their independence and wellbeing
  • Ensuring that the home is safe and secure at all times, and that all health and safety procedures are followed
  • Assisting with recruitment, training, and development of staff, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensuring that all records are accurate and up-to-date, and that all reporting requirements are met

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent, and
  • Experience working in a Children’s Home setting, ideally with young people with SEMH needs, and a good understanding of OFSTED regulations and inspection frameworks either as a Team Leader, or as a Deputy Manager
  • A good understanding of safeguarding procedures and the ability to manage challenging behaviour, and a commitment to promoting the rights and dignity of young people
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A commitment to providing high-quality care and support to young people, and an ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing situations
  • A valid driving license and access to a car (required)

  • A salary of between £30,000 – £36,000 DOE plus up to £4,500 sleep-in allowance
