Position: Deputy Manager

Location: Clubmoor, Liverpool

Setting: 3 bed therapeutic children’s residential home (11-17 years old, with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties)

Salary: £12.00- £12.50 per hour

Shift Pattern: 37.5hrs per week

 

Job Specification

 

You will be based in a brand new 3 bed therapeutic children’s residential home in Clubmoor, Liverpool. The home specialises in providing the best possible care for Children and Young People aged between 11-17 years old, with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. The service is committed to making a difference to the lives of young people with the aim of creating a more positive future. We are looking for a Deputy Home Manager who can demonstrate compassion, empathy and a person-centred approach to caring for the people in their care. Willing to:

Job role

 

  • To work under the direction of the manager and deputise for him as and when required.
  • To support the aims and objectives of the project and assist the manager in the organisation of a high quality establishment for young people.
  • To provide high standards of care – to include the monitoring and reviews of the home, this includes providing a safe, caring environment to enable the emotional, social and educational development of children, through individual attention and group activities.
  • To direct and support staff as agreed by the homes manager
  • Where required, deputise in the absence of the Manager, for the safe and effective running of the home for a clearly defined period of time.
  • To assist the manager in setting, promoting and implementing objectives and policy for the home.
  • To assist with the planning and organisation of staffing schedules and holiday rotas.
  • To ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with Local Authority guidelines and the company procedures.
  • To lead a team of support workers to ensure good practice at all times.
  • To assist with the development and implementation of systems to monitor and record child development.
  • To be responsible for the Health and Safety standards appropriate for the needs of young people and ensure staff compliance and awareness.
  • To ensure the home maintains a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
  • To assist with staff development and training.
  • To attend monthly staff / planning meetings and training sessions as and when required.
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the home’s manager.
  • Oversee, write and edit reports as directed by the Manager.
  • You must co-operate with the Company in complying with the Health and Safety requirements and are therefore expected to follow Company policies, procedures and practices and fully acquaint yourself with the Fire, Health and Safety Procedures at your place of work and carry out relevant risk assessments of unsafe practices and conditions that you consider present a safety risk.

 

Rates and Benefits:

 

  • 5hrs per week at £12.00- £12.50 per hour (dependant on experience and qualifications) + Sleeping rate at £50.00 (11.30pm – 7.30am)

Essential Requirements

 

  • Must hold Level 3 Diploma in Children’s and Young People’s/Residential Childcare or Equivalent.
  • You must hold a full UK driving license.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working within Children’s residential homes in a Senior/ Team Leading role (desirable)
