As a Family Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing guidance, advocacy, and emotional support to teenagers. Your primary responsibility will be to develop positive relationships with them, promote their personal development, and facilitate both healthy communication and interaction skills. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to support individualised care plans and provide support in areas such as behaviour management, emotional well-being, education, and life skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish trusting relationships with teenagers.
  • Provide individual and group support to teenagers, addressing their emotional, social, and behavioural needs.
  • Offer guidance and skill-building activities to enhance the teenagers’ life skills, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of therapeutic interventions and behaviour management strategies.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, schools, and other professionals involved in the teenagers’ care.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of interactions, progress, and any significant incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Have proven experience working with teenagers in a residential or similar setting.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with teenagers and their families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and engage in team-based decision-making.
  • Exhibit empathy, patience, and resilience in managing challenging situations.
  • Show familiarity with relevant regulations, policies, and best practices in residential care.

  • Have an Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willing to process an Enhances DBS through Prospero.
  • Be able to provide 5 years references
