Homelessness Prevention and Assessment Officer

Salary: £21.92 per hour (£42,744 per year) plus £32.88 overtime opportunities

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Homelessness Prevention and Assessment Officer to join a high-impact housing project aimed at reducing costs and improving outcomes for vulnerable households. This 12-month role allows you to directly influence housing solutions while growing your expertise in a dynamic, forward-thinking team.

The Role:
As part of the Move-On Team within a progressive Housing Division, you will focus on preventing homelessness and facilitating sustainable housing solutions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality prevention, support, and advice services to those at risk of homelessness.
  • Providing impartial guidance on housing rights and obligations under housing legislation, including PtVI and PtVII of the Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Act 2002, and Localism Act 2011.
  • Investigating homelessness cases and issuing legally robust S184 decision letters.
  • Addressing s.21 notices and making informed decisions on discharging housing duties.
  • Supporting move-on activities, including managing existing cases and facilitating suitable housing solutions.
