For this role you will be working in the Portsmouth area as a Child Support Worker. You will be required to support people with a diverse range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries and mental health needs. As a Support Worker you will find yourself working in a variety of settings, including people’s own homes, in health and social care settings such as supported living services or care homes, and out in the community. Being a Support Worker means to be there for a young person who needs support.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Looking after and taking care of vulnerable difficult children, with different levels of mental health issues.
- Assisting with the completion of care plans, risk assessments, reviews, incident & accidents reporting.
- Providing physical and emotional support which may include helping with household tasks and personal care.
- Contribute to the effective implementation of individual programmes by supporting learning, independence and experiences.
- Manage the well-being and behaviours ensuring significant behavioural or physical occurrences are addressed and managed accordingly.
- Dealing with a range of behaviours that challenge to provide a safe and compassionate environment for young people.
- Building relationships with the children and families to promote the wellbeing of the young people
- Support routines, from waking up and being in the house routine to activities outside.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, family and external health care professionals and adhere to company policies and procedures.
What We Need

- The ability to remain calm under pressure and when dealing with challenging situations.
- Experience of working with children in the past in a similar setting.
- The ability to keep up with changing standards and codes of conduct in the social care sector.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience as a child support worker, working with vulnerable young people and children with variety of SEMH needs
- DBS check and all required checks as well as clean criminal record.
- Preferable to be able to drive as locations can be spread out.
- Preferable to have level 3 qualifications in working with young people and families
- Right to work in the UK.
