Prospero Health and Social Care are proud to be working with a specialist childcare provider that works with children who can display challenging behaviour and present with emotional and behavioural difficulties, ADHD and autism. They use a therapeutic approach and putting our children first is integral to what we do. We are looking for Children’s Residential Support Workers who are passionate about providing children with a safe, supportive and nurturing environment and people who can be a consistent feature in the lives of young people.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a positive adult role model for the children within our residential homes.
  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment to support, advise and guide our young people to develop social, emotional and physical well-being.
  • Help our children develop self-esteem, a feeling of safety and develop personal strategies to deal with behaviours that challenge and ultimately to achieve their optimum potential.
  • Support and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of all aspects in the home including cooking, cleaning and finances.
  • Ability to engage with our children, helping to develop their interests and organising relevant activities to support this.
  • Ensuring that the needs of the children are being met and reviewing and recording changes to those needs.

Requirements:

  • supported to complete a funded Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare to help build your skills and your career
  • At least 1 year of experience of supporting vulnerable children within a residential care environment would be advantageous, although not essential, as we will fully support you with relevant training and development.
  • Compassionate, resilient, committed to being a positive role model and confident in managing challenging behaviours. (essential)
  • Flexible and able to work a residential care rota which includes evening, weekends and holiday periods.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence.
