Job description

Prospero Health and Social Care are looking for Residential Support Workers to join a team near New Milton for a new children’s home. We are working with an established care provider in Hampshire who are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for children aged between 10-18 who may experience anxiety, mental health difficulties, and emotional distress. The role of the Residential Support Worker is to provide 1:1 support during the day, allowing them to form positive attachments with adults without the need to compete for attention.

Responsibilities:

  • As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in the lives of these young people, offering care, compassion, and being a consistent role model.
  • Your responsibilities will include creating a fun and joyful atmosphere, providing support during both good and challenging times, encouraging personal growth and trying new things, actively listening to the children, and celebrating their achievements.
  • You will also help them develop self-belief, coping skills, and work towards independent living.
  • Light domestic duties including cooking and ensuring that the environment is both clean and nurturing and welcoming.

The typical working week consists of 40 hours, including two 15-hour shifts, one 10-hour shift, and one sleep-in duty. These hours are usually spread over three days, including weekends.

Requirements:

  • We are looking for individuals who have experience supporting vulnerable young people in a residential care environment or similar youth worker roles.
  • It is important to be compassionate, resilient, and confident in managing challenging behaviours.
  • Flexibility is also key, as you will be required to work a residential care rota, including evenings, weekends, holiday periods, and sleep-ins.
  • A valid UK driving license is necessary.

Benefits:

  • Working with us, you can expect a commitment to high-quality support, training, and continued professional development.
  • We provide fully funded professional training, including the opportunity to obtain a Diploma Level 3 for Residential Childcare.
  • We offer a competitive salary, high-quality homes with a high staff-to-child ratio, free parking and meals, life assurance, critical illness coverage, a health cash back scheme, and an employee referral bonus.
