Hours: 39 hours per week

Prospero Health and Social Care are working with a highly reputable provider of residential childcare who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Residential Support Worker to join their team in Brighton. This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in providing high-quality care and support to vulnerable young people who need support. The role of the Senior Residential Support Worker is to help run the home in an effective and compliant manner, and to lead shifts in a residential environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional care and support to children with SEMH needs, creating a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Lead and mentor a team of support workers, ensuring cohesive teamwork and high standards of care.
  • Implement personalised care plans, promoting emotional well-being, social development, and self-esteem.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee daily activities, ensuring a structured routine that meets the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the children.
  • Support children in developing life skills and coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including progress reports and incident logs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 experience in a residential care setting, with a focus on SEMH needs.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH challenges and effective strategies for managing them.
  • Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce or an equivalent qualification.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in challenging situations.
  • Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication.
