Role Overview

In this Senior Social Worker/AMHP role, you will be part of a team that provides a single point of access for all mental health referrals in the area. Your responsibilities will include overseeing complex assessments, supporting short-term caseloads (up to 12 weeks), and offering supervision to other social workers in the Hub. The role also includes participation in the centralised AMHP service on a 5-6 week rotation, providing a mix of on-site and community support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead socially complex assessments, providing professional insight and safeguarding expertise.
  • Supervise and support two social workers, enhancing team practice and professional standards.
  • Undertake short-term interventions for service users, ensuring they receive appropriate support without requiring secondary services.
  • Participate in the centralised AMHP service, supported by experienced AMHP managers.
  • Act as a Safeguarding Adults Manager (SAM) for the team, promoting best practices in safeguarding and social work.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Dip SW, CQSW, or degree in Social Work.
  • Qualified AMHP, registered with Social Work England.
  • Strong understanding of the Care Act and relevant social work legislation.
  • Experience in mental health and safeguarding, with expertise in complex assessments.
