As a Senior Support Worker in a children’s home, you will lead by example, supporting both the care team and the young people in your care.
Your duties will include:
Leading shifts and supporting the care team
Building positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
Providing emotional and practical support in line with individual care plans
Supporting with education, routines, activities, and life skills
Managing incidents and challenging behaviour in a calm, professional manner
Keeping accurate records, reports, and risk assessments
Ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are always followed
Working closely with families, social workers, and professionals
Supporting new staff and acting as a role model for best practice
✅ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
✅ Minimum 6 months’ experience in a senior role in children’s care
✅ Strong understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management
✅ Ability to lead a shift and support junior staff
✅ Resilient, empathetic, and calm under pressure
✅ Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and sleeps (if required)
