Role Overview

As a Social Worker or Senior Social Worker in this team, you’ll support individuals with learning disabilities to achieve independence and well-being. You will play a vital role in conducting needs assessments, developing support plans, reviewing services, and engaging in safeguarding where needed. This position also offers the opportunity to engage in more complex casework, including Mental Capacity Act assessments and Court of Protection applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct social care needs assessments, support planning, and periodic reviews for individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Carry out mental capacity assessments and assist with Continuing Health Care decision-making.
  • Engage in safeguarding work as required under s42 of the Care Act 2014.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to less experienced team members (for Senior Social Worker roles).
  • Collaborate closely with Partner Agencies to ensure coordinated support for individuals.
  • Maintain accurate records and deliver high-quality report writing.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) with registration through Social Work England.
  • Experience in adult social care, preferably within a learning disability setting.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2007.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable, with the option for a lease car scheme available.
