Prospero Health and Social Care is recruiting for Support Workers for a 2-bedded children’s home in Wellington, Somerset. The role of the Support Worker is to provide care and support to young people with SEMH needs. We are not necessarily looking for people with experience, candidates who are passionate about helping vulnerable young people are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe and nurturing environment for the children
  • Provide emotional and practical support to the children in their day-to-day lives
  • Encourage and support the children in their education and personal development
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of the children’s progress and wellbeing
  • Develop positive relationships with the children, families, and other professionals
  • Ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures in line with best practice
  • Perform light domestic duties

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role, working with children with SEMH needs
  • Proactive and fun-loving personality
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and the importance of confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of OFSTED requirements
  • Commitment to providing the highest standards of care to the children
  • Resilience
  • Drivers required due to the rural location of the home
  • Being with the young people doing activities such as sport, going on excursions and even going abroad for holidays

Shift patterns:

  • Typically long days from 10:00 – 00:00 with a sleep-in until 07:00
  • Each sleep-in paid at an additional £50 per night
  • Average of 40.5 hours worked across the week
