Prospero Health and Social Care are looking for Residential Support Workers for small Children’s homes for young people with SEMH needs in Reading in Berkshire. These homes are established and focused on medium to long term placements with several homes in the area with staff requirements.

This is for a company that cares for young people that have SEMH needs including complex needs. As a result, these children require a highly regulated environment with trained staff working with these children to create a nurturing and safe environment. We are looking for candidates who are either qualified in children’s residential care or experienced in working in children’s homes.

Duties include:

  • Completing household tasks
  • Ensuring electronic records are up to date and accurate
  • Helping children with schoolwork
  • Taking the children to activities
  • Providing structure to the lives of the children that you support
  • Creating a safe and nurturing environment for the young people to develop

The typical hours are a combination of day shifts, long days, and sleeps. The shift pattern and schedule is something that will be discussed at interview.

Package:

This position commands a competitive salary of between £24,086 and £26,100 depending on experience and seniority and the number of sleeps that you complete per month. The company will also support you through gaining additional qualifications including the QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce and further qualifications which will open doors to internal promotion and management positions moving forwards.

Requirements:

  • A Level 3 Qualification in working with children i.e. the QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce / Level 3 in Residential Childcare, or equivalent. (desirable)
  • A conscientious and resilient personality.
  • Experience working with children in care (strongly desired)
  • Driver with access to a vehicle
