Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to support young people between the ages of 8 and 18 in the Bournemouth and Poole area. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and young people with a diverse range of needs, including mental health issues, learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and acquired brain injuries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting children and young people with mental health issues, including providing physical and emotional support, and helping with household tasks and personal care.
  • Assisting with the completion of care plans, risk assessments, reviews, incident & accident reporting.
  • Supporting the children and young people’s learning, independence, and experiences.
  • Managing the well-being and behaviour of the children and young people, ensuring that significant behavioural or physical occurrences are addressed and managed accordingly.
  • Building relationships with the children and young people and providing care and support at all times.
  • Supporting daily routines and activities both in and outside of the home.
  • Maintaining professional relationships with clients, family, and external healthcare professionals, and adhering to company policies and procedures.

What We Need:

  • Someone with great problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt and act accordingly to situations
  • A high level of patience and emotional resilience
  • A non-judgmental attitude regardless of a person’s needs
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and when dealing with challenging situations
  • Experience of working with children and young people in a similar setting
  • Ability to work within compliance standards
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • A valid DBS
  • Preferably able to drive as locations can be spread out
  • A Level 3 Qualification in working with children is preferable, or an equivalent qualification
