Prospero Health and Social Care is partnering with a leading provider of residential childcare services across the South. Our client specialises in offering trauma-informed care to children between the ages of 6 and 12 who have been affected by childhood trauma. They are committed to creating a nurturing and safe environment that supports the personal and social development of young people, ensuring their happiness and well-being. This role is a Team Leader role to support a solo placement in Weymouth.

Role Overview:

As a Team Leader in residential childcare, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a dedicated support staff team. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the delivery of exceptional care and support to children and young people under your care. Working closely with the Registered Manager and fellow team leaders, you will help create an environment that fosters personal and social development in these young individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and inspire a team of support staff, maintaining the highest standards of care.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members through regular supervision and performance appraisals.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the residential home, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for residents.
  • Collaborate with the Registered Manager and other professionals to develop and implement care plans that meet individual needs and goals.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents, promoting their independence, self-esteem, and personal development.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including incident reports, risk assessments, and key worker records.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a similar supervisory role within a residential childcare setting, either as a Support Worker or as a Senior.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices within the childcare sector.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Effective leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
