Role Overview
In this pivotal role as Team Manager in the Referral and Assessment Service, you’ll lead a dedicated team responsible for receiving and assessing new referrals. With an average caseload of 50 families across the team, you’ll ensure effective child and family assessments are carried out, setting the foundation for support tailored to each child’s needs. This role requires excellent supervisory skills and a commitment to upholding best practices in a relationship-based framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the referral and assessment processes, guiding social workers in managing an average caseload of eight families each.
- Support team members with complex cases, ensuring thorough and well-informed assessments.
- Lead by example in fostering collaborative relationships with families and professionals to bring about positive change.
- Ensure team members have access to regular, reflective supervision and are supported in maintaining high practice standards.
- Work closely with senior management, promoting a culture of excellence and continual improvement.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
- Registration with Social Work England (or eligibility).
- Substantial post-qualification experience in children’s social work within statutory or independent settings.
- Proven track record of supervising complex casework and supporting social workers in managing challenging cases.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a focus on relationship-based practice.
