Prospero Health and Social Care are supporting a residential childcare provider based in Hampshire who are seeking compassionate and dedicated Waking Night Support Workers to join their team. As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing overnight support and ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people. This is for a company that specialises in supporting children of both sexes with SEMH needs across education and residential care.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and support to students during the night, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Establish positive and therapeutic relationships with students, promoting their social and emotional development.
  • Implement individual care plans and support strategies as directed by the senior staff.
  • Monitor and manage any challenging or disruptive behaviour, following the appropriate procedures and techniques.
  • Record accurate and detailed reports of incidents, observations, and any significant developments during the night shift.
  • Collaborate effectively with the daytime staff, sharing relevant information and ensuring continuity of care.
  • Promote a calm and supportive environment for the children that live in the home

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of the specific challenges and requirements associated with SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong observation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Availability between 21:00 – 08:00 on a 3 shifts per week / 4 shifts per week rota, with a total of 40 hours per week.

This is a full-time position offering 40 hours per week across 3-4 nights. The hourly rate for this role ranges from £10.70 to £12.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
